Writing is a good way to process my thoughts and feelings about the events of both love and war.I’ve always wondered what “The Thinker” by Rodin was thinking and how it must feel to spend that long thinking. I figured if has been sitting there that long, whatever he has on him mind must really be vexing him. At least, if I had something on my mind for that long, I would be rather vexed, so I feel that I can identify with him, hence the title. Many of these poems are in memory of some great person whom I have known or studied, even though I do not always name that person. They are whom I call my heroes, persons whose story is worth entering into the historical record through poetry.Even though when I write a poem, I have no particular agenda in mind, now that they are collected into a volume, my hope is that they will put a vibrant human face on the human experience.
